You can add, subtract and convert time-expressions. How long have you been at work today? - So type in: "17:30 - 7:45 =" where 17 stands for 5pm so 17:30 means 5:30pm. As a result you get: 09:45 (9 hours and 45 minutes). you can convert this result in fractions of hours. Therefore press "hours" (at the bottom, right in the middle) and you get "9.75 hrs". Alternatively, you can enter factions of hours. For example: 1.75 + 0:15 = will result in 2:00 (means two hours)

Adding multiple timespans
==================
You can add up several amounts of time, such as working hours (hours account) or flight times (log / personal flight log if you are a pilot). Example: An airplane has a total running time of 4873h and 53min. In the airplanes flightlog book, individual flight hours are to be added up.
4873:53 +1:23 +:45 + .... +1:34 and so on. (this is the reason why the editor has a few more lines) By pushing "=", the result will appear in the output field, and with the buttons (at the bottom) you can convert the result.

Calculation of timespans crossing the dateline
==============================
Suppose you are working night shift and you are beginning at 8:13pm in the evening. Your work ends on 4:32am in the early morning. For the calculation, enter:
4:32 -20:13 =
In mode "d h:m:s" (at the bottom, far left button), you get the following output: "timespan: 08h: 19m: 00s.". Unlike this, if you would like to subtract hours and minutes in the mathematical sense, press "h:m:s" (bottom, second from left) and you get "-15h: 41m: 00s".

Further Examples:
00:02 -23:58 = (mode "d d:m:s"): timespan: 00h:04m:00s (Midnight cross)
23:58-00:02 = (mode "d:m:s") : 23h:56m:00s (mathematical result)
Midnight cross will be only detected, when the first number is minor the second one.

Examples for Entering timespans and clock times
================================

10:45:30 - (10 hours, 45 minutes and 30 seconds)
:30:20 - (30 minutes and 20 seconds)
10:14.5 - (10 hours and 14.5 minutes or 14 min and 30 sec)
::25 - (25 seconds)

Pros and cons of Time Calculator app for iPhone and iPad

Time Calculator app good for

I have to calculate elapsed times frequently for my job; this has been a useful app instead of opening up Excel. It sometimes snags when it thinks times have crossed midnight. It only adds and subtracts; if it multiplied and divided also, I would give it 5 stars.
Program does exactly what it should. I like that is shows a column of the times you are adding it makes finding mistakes much easier. You guys complaining about it not working correctly probably arent entering the time correctly. Use the 24 hour clock to figure your day. This lets the program know am or pm. Real simple!
U have to use the : to separate hrs and min if u want add or sub hrs and min after u fig that out it worked great
Finally convinced its right, perhaps it would be clearer to mention that when midnight is detected the “X" represents 24,,,,, and one must do the math within that box!
The answer to my prayers. We are allowed to use our iPods as calculators so now I can cheat.
Excellent app for pilots. Makes it easy to determine flight times, and duty days. Also, helps with logbook input and figure out pay with the super simple way to convert time to decimals.

Some bad moments

Works well when adding up hours but wish it would keep a running total so instead of 29:00 hrs the total would be 05:00 hrs. In our line of work we deal with duty day limitations so need the the start and finish times as per the clock. Other than that it works okay. Thanks
Im no mathematician but wouldnt you figure if somebody was writing a Time Calculator program that they would put in the program the midday and midnight factor like if you started work @ 8:15AM and stopped work @ 3:15PM, for a total of 7 hours, not (8:15 - 3:15 = 5 hours) or (3:15 - 8:15 = -5 hours) maybe just an AM & PM button might work, we can figure the rest.
Dont get this. It doesnt work and I think it was a waste of money.
App looses totals when you switch to another app. It makes it impossible to add a lot of numbers that youre getting from another app running on the same device. Improve this to support multitasking.
First of all I dont think you should have to put the colons in. It should automatically add the colons for every 2 digits (except in the hours column) Similarly - to type in :10 seconds plus :10 seconds should NOT require you to manually type 00:00:10 plus 00:00:10. When you only type :10 it should know you are referring to seconds.
It requires a user to enter longer strings for no real reason. It should default to seconds only if a user enters just two digits. Instead it interprets it as hours or minutes. Also, there is no preset option for minutes and seconds only. So if a string is xx it is second, if the strings is xxxx it should be minutes and seconds, etc.
